Blondes

I went to see Blondes the other night in Edinburgh, after already seeing them at the
Berkeley Suite in Glasgow in April. Its not very often I go to see an artist twice in
quick concession but I really feel so strongly about these guys I just couldn't resist.
I hadn't heard anything quite like them before, they manage to fullfil a lot of my
musical needs which is quite satisfying.

Blondes are made up of two New Yorkers. Zach Steinman and Sam Haar. They make
electronic music, their tracks are long and drawn out but somehow leave you wanting
even more. I think they tease, but it works so well as the slow build up to that incredible
climax of the tune is still just so, so enjoyable.

Rosie Huntington Whiteley

This is Rosie Huntington-Whiteley by Kimi Hammerstroem. It is very
stripped back and seems like the shoot was a little spontaneous, which
it probably wasn't but I love it anyway.

Modern Masters // Good Press

A few weeks ago I went along to Mono where Good Press gallery put on a
group show of original works on paper from both UK and International artists.
The way the work was displayed was perfect. It was all grouped together tightly
with only a few centimetres between each piece. I think having such
contrasting, clashing artworks placed so closely together worked really well.
It definitely made me examine each one more thoroughly.

After a couple of hours of being able to take in the exhibition a few tables
were moved and suddenly a perfect space appeared for night of music. Cru Servers,
Ben Butler & Mousepad and Tonstartssbandht all played. They were all very
different but all excellent and very appropriate to the night. I danced a
little and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I would like more nights like this.

L'atelier / Dalston / London

Stumbling across this little haven whilst wondering the streets of East London
topped off an already wonderful day. L'atelier has only been open for a month so I feel
very lucky that I managed to check it out.

From the outside L'atelier looks very understated,which is something that usually attracts
me to an eating or drinking place. We had a quick look inside and liked it so asked to look
at the menu. They only had two savoury options for lunch. One Salad and one Main. This made
me love it even more. I love it when places only focus on one or two meals but do them very well.
We loved the sound of both so decided to sit in. It wasn't until I sat down that I fully appreciated
this incredible space.

It turns out L'atelier is both a furniture shop and a Cafe. They source everything from flea
markets, auctions, travelling, junk in the street and also make some things too. It is one of
the most beautiful and comfortable places I have ever eaten in. There was lots of reclaimed
wooden tables and shelves, enamel factory light shades hung from the ceiling with rusty chains
and there were gorgeous old bottles and jugs spotted all over the place. The food was amazing
and so was the service. It was a very chilled place to be in and also had a lot of lovely things
to look at. If I lived in Dalston I would definitely be a regular.

Modeselektor Field Day 2012

The highlight of Field Day for me was the last song of the whole day.
It had started raining by the time Modeselektor came on so everyone was
crammed into this huge tent trying to keep dry. I dont think I have ever
danced so much or been so happy in all my life. I wanted the song to last
forever.

Camden Lock

Yesterday I went to Camden Market. It felt like i was in a foreign city like
China Town in New York or the Boqueria in Barcelona. It did not feel like a
British city at all, well at least not until I heard the cockney accent bargaining
with me over a gorgeous Vintage suitcase. Surprisingly I didn't buy anything, I am
resisting most things as I really want a pair of Chelsea boots or a pair of Dr Marten shoes,
I am pretty confident I will find a pair so hopefully my discipline will pay off!

I would recommend going to Funky Town Vintage shop. They have a huge selection
of amazing vintage shoes, all in pretty small sizes so not good for me but still
very worth a visit.
