Mad Men

I've recently started watching Mad Men. I've totally fallen for it. Its just so sleek and easy to watch. The depth of each character makes it very easy to get hooked to. The visual style is incredible and definitely part of the reason I love it so much.

It is teaching me about the style in an era that I wasn't that clued up on. Although the women in Mad Men are not quite 'equal' to men and are most definitely seen as the housewife or typist they hold an incredible amount of power. The clothes although not revealing in any way are tailored to perfection creating a very sexy and elegant style.

The Guardian managed to sum up the importance of style on the show very well,

"Mad Men isn't just reeling in the viewers, it's starting trends. Visually distinctive, it combines starched elegance, architecturally-complex underwear and suits sharp enough to cut through any boardroom tension. The success of the Mad Men style is down to the obsessive attention to detail, which almost fetishises the early 60s setting"

Here are my favourite street style images of guys this week. I love how all these men are wearing accessories. Glasses, hats, bags and braces. I love it. Men look amazing with accessories, so many aren't brave enough but they should be.

All photos are from stil in berlin and Copenhagen street style.

I tried these trousers on today and loved them so I am definitely going to buy them at the end of the week. I love the blouse so so much but will have to save some pennies first!

Animal Collective in Prospect Park

Last summer while I was in New York, my boyfriend and I went to see Animal Collective. They are probably one of my favourite bands and this night made me love them even more. The night just summed up everything I love about New York.

It had been a really hot day and before the gig we went for wings, burgers and of course happy hour 2 for 1 cocktails.

We then got the subway to Prospect park in Brooklyn.

It was still really hot and the park was just filled with a totally diverse group of people. All different ages, everyone with picnic blankets, food and drinks. No one being too loud or invasive. There was just a genuine respect and consideration for the music.

Animal Collective came on just after the sun set and it was unbelievable. The lighting they had was amazing and it was so dark in the park that it looked incredible. It had cooled down by this point. We stood and danced for half the gig then went back and lay on the grass for the second half.

On the way out afterwards I noticed the vast amount of bicycles, so many people had cycled to the gig. I so wish Glasgow was a little more like New York.

Gisele Bundchen for Muse Summer 2010 by Nino Muñoz

I hate following what everyone else thinks. I usually find more unusual looking people attractive but with Gisele I cant find fault. She is utterly beautiful.

I saw the Morning Benders last week in Glasgow and they were amazing. We spoke quite a bit to them after the gig and they were super lovely. I am a little addicted to their music right now. The first time I heard them was on this video. Its very pretty.

My favourite outfits from Glastonbury

Liebemarlene Vintage

I have posted my huge appreciation for Liebemarlene Vintage before but I thought I would post some her latest pictures. I so wish I had the time and dedication that she has. I also wish I had all the beautiful surroundings that she does, I think it would encourage me to take more photos. Anyway, hopefully the summer will get me started again.
